Rev. father Mortimer Shea was assigned by Montreal's archbishop of the day, MGR. Bruchesi, to become the founding pastor of a parish to serve the English speaking population of the 'Eastern End' of the Island of Montreal
As a result the parish was established in the spring of 1908
